YOUR FUTURE DEPEND ON YOU
By Gilbert Hughes, MINISTER of the word
Some people still dream about who they used to be. They do the same things they used to do
Sing old songs. Old songs bring remembrances of what God did in the past.
Our minds associate those songs with memories of what happened before.
Still thinking about onions and garlic, Garlic mentality * onions mentality
Nothing changes until your mind change.
Your future depends on you, so the responsibility for your future is completely up to you. Think about milk and honey
You're a book that has not yet been written.
You're a poem that has not yet been composed.
You're a song that has not yet been sung.
You’re a dream that has not yet been fulfilled.
You're a destiny that has not yet been realized.
You're a Future that has not been finished.
You're a miracle about to happen.
. Let us bring God into helping us make our decisions. Turn your bible to Phil 3:12-15
12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.
13 Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining towards what is ahead,
14 I press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenwards in Christ Jesus.
15 All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you.
Tell Somebody: Forget 2001 and press on in 2002
Do you want to press on towards the goal to win the prize for which God has called you?
YOUR FUTURE DEPEND ON YOU
It Is not what you are that whole you back, but what you think that you are not that whole back;
1. renew your mind
Our mind need to be renew
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Ø By word of God (Ps 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul)
The only one who can change you is you. God will inspire you in your godly desires, but he won’t change you.
As a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Prov 23:7)
Change comes not by where we go, but through what we know.
It is always my heart that is purified (Acts 15:9, Jas 4:8), my mind that is renewed (Rom 12:2, Eph 4:17), my conscience that becomes good (1 Pet 3:16, 21), my life that is saved (Heb 10:39, Jas 1:21, 1 Pet 1:9)
The enemy of time is distraction
The bible said redeem time
The effective use of time is determined by knowing what is beneficial for you
1 Cor 6:12
"Everything is permissible for me"-- but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"-- but I will not be mastered by anything. (NIV)
Eccl 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: (NIV)
Time to: pray * read * exercises * call * worship * watch TV * visit people *
Write on paper a detail program of what you want to accomplish
Goals * projects * put some timing and what you will need
1 To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes the reply of the tongue.
3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed. NIV)
God want you to plan it is a command from him. Written down on a peace of paper, describe what you need;
If you have a plan God will direct your step.
Prov 16:9 in his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps. (NIV)
If you don’t have a plan, God cannot direct you.
Jer 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (NIV)
4. organized your life
Place everything in list of priority and develops a personal system for you to get everything done.
Eccl 8:6 For there is a proper time and procedure for every matter, though a man's misery weighs heavily upon him. (NIV)
Luke 4:16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. (NKJ)
You need people in your life.
People can be a wonderful blessing
Prov 15:22 Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.
Your associations determine your environment
Choose associations that help you to achieve your goals and inspire your passion.
Choose your friends according to your destination
For every action there is a reaction, and for every choice there is a consequence.
But the wrong people can be a curse
The plans of the righteous are just, but the advice of the wicked is deceitful.
Prov 12:26 A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray. (NIV)
Two kinds of people on this world
Ø Fertilize people (dream fertilize) those who make you grow up; mature
Ø Toxic people (dream killers) those who criticize
Four (4) kinds of characters on the world
Ø Those who subtract
Ø Those who divide
Ø Those who multiply
Ø Those who add
Two have to go 1 Cor 15:33 Do not be misled: "Bad Company corrupts good character." (NIV
Establish what is important over what is urgent
Do not attempt to do everything,
41 "Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things,
but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her." (NIV)
"His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!'(NIV)
People are busy but not effectives
13 "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.
14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.(NIV)
7. passion for living
14 I am bound both to Greeks and Non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish.
15 That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are at Rome.
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
17 For in the gospel righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith." (NIV)
Ø Bound (Obligated) Jesus said for this cause I came!
Ø Eager (Desire)
Ø Power of God (energy)
Ø Lives by faith (commitment)
Refuse to stop
Stand against opposition
Don’t quit because of difficulties, stand up to pressure, and recognize your test.
See difficulties as challenges and opportunities to grow.
So no matter how many problems threaten you they cannot overcome you. When you know and live within God’s will
*man in night ask for bread * lady with the judge
Ask * Seek * knock
Means commune with; Have a common union with God
It’s an important part of Christian living. It is a key to success /a key of victory/a key of power
1 Thes 5:17-18 Pray without ceasing. Continually for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus
