RECLINE in HIS PRESENCE

Gilbert Hughes, MINISTER of the word

Call in Christ Jesus, appointed by God, anointed as a teacher

Operated in the gift of PROPHECY, WISDOM, KNOWLEDGE & healing

My mission statement the lord as anointed me to build leaders, worshiper,

John 12:1-2

1    Six days before the Passover, Jesus arrived at Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.

2    Here a dinner was given in Jesus' honour. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him. (NIV)

John 12:9-11

9    Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.

10  So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well,

11  for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and putting their faith in him. (NIV)

First, a resurrection dinner in Jesus’ honor (1-3)

Look at verse 1.  “Six days before the Passover, Jesus arrived at Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.”

Jesus had six days left before his death.  For at this Passover, Jesus would become the Passover Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.  As Jesus entered Bethany, he knew he was going to die soon.

Look at verse 2.  “Here a dinner was given in Jesus’ honor.  Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him.”

"So they made Him a supper there, and Martha was serving; but Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him. John 12:2 NASB

Once you have survived a real attack as Lazarus did, you are no longer free to be some cold and indifferent Christian

Wherever the Jews saw Jesus after the miracle in Bethany Lazarus was there too.    He was committed to the Lord who had brought him through. He was there for Jesus.

How about you? Have you been there for the Lord, Who was there for you?

You know what it was like, and you know the power

He was so relaxed that he reclined in the presence of the Lord! He felt comfortable in HIS presence because he was once again resting in the power that had released him!

Second. recline in the presence of God

In order to be like God, we must know God, and to know God, we must recline in the presence of God, meaning:

v    Stay in His presence

v    Dwell in His presence

v    Delight  in His presence

v    spend time in His presence

v    Rest in God's presence.

v    Maintains the presence of God

The Bible tells us that God, in His infinite wisdom and love, created you with all your uniqueness.    For by him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible … all things were created by him and FOR HIM.  (Colossians 1:16)

Did you get that?  Did you really get that??  God (your Heavenly Father who created you) created you for Himself!  He wanted YOU!  WOW!  That gives me Holy Ghost goose bumps!  Just to think that He wanted ME!  He wanted YOU!  The Word says so … and the Word does not lie!  My Heavenly Daddy loves me and He wants ME!

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.      (Revelation 4:11)

Just to think that we were made for His pleasure.  He delights in you and me!  That is so amazing to me!

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.  (Psalm 139:13)

And everything God creates is special!

For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected, (I Timothy 4:4)

I praise you [God] because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.  (Psalm 139:14)

Third. “The Abiding Presence of God

When the priest was AT the tabernacle or temple, God’s presence was THERE as well!

v    When all these things are in place, when all the keys are in order, God will manifest his presence and release his glory.

v    This physical manifestation of God has come to be called the Shekinah.

The Shechinah Glory is the visible manifestation of the presence of God. It is the majestic presence or manifestation of God in which He descends to dwell among men. Whenever the invisible God becomes visible, and whenever the omnipresence of God is localized, this is the Shechinah Glory

The Hebrew word for "glory," is kabob most often refers to

v    The visible manifestation of his attributes and character, and the full expression of His nature.

v    God glory is the revelation of is character and his presence

The Presence of God is His Power, influence, authority

kabod OR ICHABOD, "glory" or "no glory."

We need to ask ourselves which condition we want to characterize our lives: kabod or  ichabod, "glory" or "no glory."

v    Many of us today live in a state of ichabod, seeing no evidence of God's glory and sensing little of his presence.

v    When children telling their parents, they don’t want to go to church

(yes) they need to recline in the presence of God

v    When they want to stay home …..

(yes) they need to recline in the presence of God

v    When believers are no more motivated, no passion or involved in the thing of God……..( yes) they need to recline in the presence of God

v    Leaders who want to lead without prayerful life……( yes) they need to recline in the presence of God

v    Leaders who want position ( yes) they need to recline in the presence of God … to know leadership is not position but function

v    Leaders who when to be boss ( yes) they need to recline in the presence of God … to learn you are a servant, inspired people

v    When believers are not hungry for God; we've decided that things are okay the way they are ( yes) they need to recline in the presence of God

v    Spiritual laziness and lack of discipline: We simply can't be bothered with the deeper things of the Spirit. It may be that we simply, ( yes) they need to recline in the presence of God

Whatever the reason, our situation won't change until we decide to do something about it. God wants more for us

v    When you recline in The presence of God, you release the glory of God.

v    All of creation exists to express, to reveal, to display, and to manifest the glory of God

v    If  we want to see the glory of God, we must, recline, live, delight in His presence

God's manifest presence is what changes lives and reveals the glory of God.

Fourth. PEOPLE will seek the Lord because of you

Learn from Lazarus.

John 12:9-11

verse 9       Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came,      not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.

As the dinner party progressed, word spread through the area that Jesus was there.  Many people wanted to see him.  May also wanted to see Lazarus.  The power of resurrection was spreading all over the area and many were putting their faith in Jesus.

v    When you recline in presence of God; some people will seek the Lord because of you

Fifth. stand firm

This made the chief priests very upset and they plotted to kill Lazarus as well.  They would stop at nothing to prevent the wonderful good news of Jesus from spreading.

Sometimes the best way to bring out the glory of God in us is for someone to stand in our way. Pharaoh stood in the way of the Israelites, and Moses told them to "stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring to you today."

10  So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well,

11  for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and putting their faith in him. (NIV)

NO one can threaten me death. I have already been dead.

I will not run and hide simply because my critics are embarrassed by my progress or upset by those who surround me.

If the grave couldn’t hold us, why do you think petty politics or unfavourable public opinion could hold us back?

The enemy knocked him down, but Jesus raised him up again and as a result large numbers of people were being transformed, his life caused many to seek Jesus;

Whenever we face trials or obstacles that hold us back and becoming what we were born to be, it may be time for us to "stand firm and see"

We must help them find the secret place in the presence of God and recline there.

This is your day. There were some who never expected you to make it. But you are here. Celebrate what God has done for you! Recline in the presence of the Lord in the cool of the evening, He will not fail you. He can hold all your weight, so lie back on Him. He is waiting for you

conclusion

Living in the presence of God it is His love and His power that fills our lives! (Psalms 139:7-10) Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.
